§ IA TRANSMISSION THAT HAS NEVER BEEN BROKEN

Our Lineage.

傳 承 · CHUÁN CHÉNG

What Origin Institute teaches is the real thing — traceable, documented, and alive. The arts here come from authentic transmission, distinct from modern interpretations of ancient practice.

Most programs teaching Qìgōng or Tàijíquán today cannot tell you where their teaching came from. They can point to a book, a workshop, a certification. Origin Institute can point to a living chain of transmission that stretches back centuries — teacher to student, generation to generation, without interruption.

That chain is the reason Origin Institute exists.

§ IIWHERE IT BEGINS

The Original
Shàolín Monks.

The transmission begins at its deepest known point — the Shàolín tradition. The original Shàolín monks developed systems of movement, breath, meditation, and internal cultivation that integrated the body, mind, and spirit into a single unified practice.

These were complete technologies of human development — far more than exercise systems — refined over centuries of devoted study in one of the world's most rigorous contemplative environments.

From these roots grew the internal arts that form the foundation of everything taught at Origin Institute today.

The Central Guoshu Institute.

In 1928 the Central Guoshu Institute was established in Nanjing, China — the formal institutional home of Chinese martial arts transmission at its highest level. The institute gathered the most accomplished masters of the era under one roof, standardized transmission without diluting it, and produced a generation of practitioners who carried the full depth of these arts into the modern world.

This is the institutional waypoint in Origin Institute's lineage — the formal structure through which the transmission passed into the twentieth century. The deeper origin remains the Shàolín tradition, which predates the institute by centuries.

Grand Master Chan Kwok Wai was one of the most accomplished martial artists of the twentieth century and a direct carrier of the Central Guoshu Institute lineage. Born in 1936, he devoted his life to the preservation and transmission of traditional Chinese martial arts with a fidelity and depth that became increasingly rare as the century progressed.

He trained Master Roberto Baptista directly — passing to him not just techniques and forms, but the full internal understanding that makes these arts what they are. Grand Master Chan Kwok Wai passed in 2022. His transmission lives on through Master Roberto and through Origin Institute.

Master Roberto Baptista is the living carrier of this lineage in the Western hemisphere. Over 45 years of devoted practice, study, and transmission — first as a student under Grand Master Chan Kwok Wai, then as a teacher forming his own students — he has maintained the full integrity of what was passed to him.

He teaches these arts the way they were transmitted to him — with patience, rigor, and the understanding that authentic development takes time. Commercial convenience and simplified versions stay outside his classroom.

Master Roberto oversees all Internal Arts curriculum at Origin Institute. Every lesson, every form, every principle taught here has passed through his review and carries his standard.

§ VIIWHY LINEAGE MATTERS

A Living Lineage.

In a world where anyone can film a Qìgōng video and call themselves a teacher, lineage is the only verifiable standard. It answers a question that no certification can — where did this come from, and has the chain of transmission remained intact?

Origin Institute's answer is documented, traceable, and public. We show you the chain.

The arts taught here work because they have been refined and corrected and refined again across generations of devoted practice. That refinement is only possible through transmission — teacher to student, in relationship, over time. It cannot be downloaded, shortened, or certified in a weekend.

This is what you are enrolling in when you join Origin Institute — a living lineage.
